Welcome to Rachel's Home Child Care Educator Support Network - The Educators Well
They say if you love what you do, there is not a day worked
I started Rachel's Home Child Care FDC with the goal of offering readers a glimpse into my service, Rachel's Home Child Care and experiences we have as a community.
Rachel's Home Child Care is a family day care service based in a the tiny but mighty community of Konorgong approx. 20 minutes out of Mount Gambier on the South Australian Limestone Coast. The service is operated by me, Rachel and Greg (works as a mechanic in Mount Gambier) and our little girl, Adelyn (Addy). We have 3 cats (Trxie, Princess and Ella) sheep, ducks and chickens. As a service, my focus is to provide the children with opportunities to be out in the community, engaged in learning about nature, sustainability and showing respect to all people and things while developing life long friendships. As my family day care service, is not currently running, I have been focusing on a new venture, to offer support and guidance to other educators.
Over the past few months, we have identified a significant gap in our family day care community—a divide between services and educators. If this gap continues to expand, the Family Day Care sector risks shrinking to a non-existent service. To address this, we have established the Australian FDC Educator Support Group on Facebook. This group serves as a platform for educators to share experiences, inspire each other, and exceed basic expectations. It is a space for seeking advice and receiving friendly, helpful support.
So Again, Welcome to my venture to change the Family Day Care world, Rosa Parkes said: “I believe we are here on the planet Earth to live grow up and do what we can to make this world a better place for all people to enjoy freedom.” I believe that freedom is for every single one of us, and is part of basic human rights. And while Rosa Parkes was definitely advocating for Family Day Care, she believed that 'To bring about change, you must not be afraid to take the first step. We will fail if we fail to take that first step'. So this is me taking the first step to Advocate for change in the Family Day Care Sector. My goal is to work with exisiting services to advocate for educators not just for the sector!

Mum to 3 year old
Since my son has been going to Rachel's home child care, he has grown in so many ways. His confidence to step out of his comfort zone, his vocabulary and his manners have all expanded so much. I have Rachel's amazing can do attitude to thank for this. Everytime I say we are struggling with something at home eg. brushing teeth, she says no worries we will work that into an activity and see if we can make it easier for you. |It's these little things that make Rachel unique. And it's this quality of care and service that make my life as a busy, working mum, alot easier.|We would be lost without Rachel.
